When the employees and guests of the Casino Club in Skimpot Road, Luton, arrived for an evening of entertainment, they expected the annoying, yet awfully charming sounds of slots, the spinning of a roulette ball and the sliding of cards across tables. Instead, what they got was a scene straight out of an action movie. At around 6 PM, a man dressed in black clothing, with gloves and a black motorcycle helmet stormed the casino through its main entrance, threatening the staff with a weapon. Terrified, the dealers quickly handed him some money, which prompted the mysterious man to quickly escape through the back entrance. No information was given on whether or not he had a motorcycle stashed there, which he would use to engage in a high-speed chase with police which would include at least three ramp jumps, but we can only assume that was the case.
As of right now, the perpetrator is still missing, though his familiarity with the layout means that he was either a regular customer or a former staff member. The investigation is currently ongoing, and the police don’t plan to give up until the man is caught. Detective Sergeant Emma Langwith, who is in charge of the investigation, said that robberies of this sort are “completely unacceptable, especially where threats are involved”. Even despite the relatively limited amount of clues left by the robber, the authorities are still doing everything in their power to bring him to justice. As such, they implore anyone who was in the casino, or in the vicinity of the casino at the time of the robbery, to contact them and share what they’ve seen. Anyone who wishes to come forward with information can do so by contacting DS Langwith on 101, text 07786 200 011, or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
